2.2 TBI, Flowmaster FlowFX muffler
Enjoy the smoke show, it has over 300k on it and it's about to be parted out, so I figured I'd better get an exhaust video!
1991 Cavalier, 2.2 TBI, no converter, full 2.25" exhaust to a Flowmaster FlowFX muffler.
These are great substitutes for Magnaflow mufflers. Same internal construction, half the price.

That's good. Great to see someone doing things they like instead of just talking about it. That's motivating. Keep up the great work and best wishes for many years and happy miles in your car.
Sounds good 👍🏽😎 im running 3"Borlas on my 87 caprice
I was considering a set of Borlas, they sound fantastic on these cars.

A 305 sound like that what cam bro ??

Chevy Caprice
@@MurphRocks86 muchísimas gracias
I always like 305s. They are extremely under estimated. A mild cam and lifter kit along with a performer intake and a 600 cfm 4bbl carburetor and 2 1/2 inch headers can put out some decent power. Put it on top of a Muncie M21 and 4.11s out back and you have yourself a car that can pull mid to high 13s in the quarter.
Other than the trans and rear end, that's my setup lol.
@@MurphRocks86 Atta boy! Old school! 👍
I would love to find a carbureted 2 door Caprice. I would put a well built, carbed, cammed 383 in it, as well as a Muncie M21 4 speed and Posi 12 bolt. I have a similar setup in my 1982 Chevy S-10, except it has a Ford 8.8 Trac Lok.
Damn I bet that's a little rocket!
Yes sir she sure sounds sweet...... Most guys on the street will probably think you have a giant killer under the hood!!!!❤
I'm not a mechanic, so maybe there's some differences that I'm not aware of with this engine, but I thought a 305 is the same as any other small block Chevy engine. Could somebody give me an idea what's supposed to be different about a 305 that makes them suck as everybody says they do?
they were made to be the base version that was built for fuel economy. HP and torque dropped hard from the gas crisis in the 70s, and the 305 was a result of that. they didn't even make 200hp. now realistically, you can make a ton of power with pretty much the same parts you'd put on a 350 (it's more or less the same), but it's a symbol of everything wrong with the era. that hate is more emotional than mechanical, most of the time.
Smog engine as stated above. Usually low compression. Stroke sucked. 302, 327,350 better for performance. Altho i think u can slap og double humps on these to help w comp...but overall just meh.
Well still it's a small block Chevy engine. Now I did read somewhere that the bore size of a 305 makes it difficult to put decent heads on the car because the valves won't fit within the bore. Again I'm not a mechanic so I'm not sure that's necessarily the truth. I'm just asking why can people take a 283 and build respectable power and appreciate that engine but not a 305?? would not more cubic inches make more power?
The 305's have a much smaller cylinder bore than the 350's. You can have one of each modified identically and the 350 will be faster every time. When I bought this engine, people were pretty much scrapping 305's. Now 350's have no value either. If this were the case back then, I would have picked up a 350.
Some stubborns have built up 305s....look into the fuelie heads i mentioned...maybe an Edelbrook torquer manifold and tuned Quadrajet carb if u insist. Ive been down this path as a kid after the money math and low hp returns for your buck its yawn. Imo best 305 is a stock tbi setup with aftermarket exhaust for its reliabity and thats all.😆
I would love 1 of these in 2 door coup!
I just want a wagon, but they've all pretty much been derbied!
@@MurphRocks86 You could resto-mod a '95 Caprice wagon into a modern "Nomad SS." Toss an 8.1 Suburban/Hummer H2 V8 under the hood, stiffen the holy hell out of the suspension, & have that fvcker pull'n 11s in the 1/4 mile. I saw this exact type of mod done to a '94 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon, called it a "GS 455 Grocery Getter." That thing was insane. The burnouts he did were magic!
I'm not big on the bubbles, but the wagons make killer builds!
@@MurphRocks86 Sssooooo, no "killer Pacer build" for you?? How 'bout a Gremlin with a Stroker?

Sounds awesome sweet ride
Sound good 👍🏾
Nah waste of parts and money- 305 SUX, legendary for nothing but for soft lobe cams from the factory. Good you changed it out but still not worth the effort
We did this back before the LS swap craze, it's been in there a long time! Old engine was bad and picked this one up for $100, built it for less than the cost of a used 350.
I'd be willing to bet you SUXS a lot better than that 305 does LMAO!!!!!! Let's see how many likes we get on this one 😜
add some flowmasters - it will sound better
Check out my latest video and you'll see what I installed!
Sounds beautiful just like she is. Good work!!👍
had to put on my headphones to capture the beauty of that sound ( i replayed it 3 times )

My dad had one, still my favorite old school then the Monte Carlo
It's getting reworked this year too!
Favorite old school... Sounds good, keep up the work on it.....
Are you able to add the link to the size you got?
Hmmmm..... I'm digging the wheel/tire choice. You wouldn't think it, but it looks good.
I was going for the old school 70's street rod vibe back when I had it!

Junkyard 😂
I actually searched the VIN recently, was crushed back in 2013, and I did a full restoration on it back in 2008 / 2009. I bet someone totaled it!
good way to mess up the acceleration enrichment. using that throttle body will require changes to the tune if you want oem like drivability along with the increased power output. the bigger issue is you can only get 19pph spider injectors. ultimately that will be the power bottleneck. you can get mercruiser marine vortec intakes,. they accept regular fuel injectors and are a direct swap. just have to splice some wires and rearrange the fuel feed and return lines. that piece on the 5.7 throttle body actually helps direct air evenly to all cylinders on throttle tip in. removing it will increase wide open throttle airflow. but drivability will suffer.
I looked into doing the marine intake swap, but they are still insanely priced, honestly not sure why.
What cam did you go with?
It has a Summit K1103 cam, it's a good mild street cam.
Sounds like my 77 Pontiac Phoenix kinda. I've got a mild cam in my 305.
Sweet footage🤘💯😅

Love that sound but I prefer the original GM starter sounds. Not really a fan of these aftermarket starter models.

Thanks bro - things required, general common sense safety practices, car maintenance oil change level experience and 7 qt drain pan, 10 mm allen socket and 3/8” ratchet, 2 qt valvoline transfer case fluid or (AC Delco auto-trak ii), Quart screw on lid type transfer pump or Self Priming Transfer Pump for Drill
I need to do more how to videos, but most stuff I do is modifications instead of maintenance, lol.
The thing sounds good keep it coming 👀 🍿 u got that thing right nice 👍
Sounds good keep it coming 👀 🍿
Love that throaty sound of that engine, wish I owned one of those! It sure stirs wonderful memories of my childhood, my dad had a nice '79 silver coupe with a burgundy red interior! It was sad when he lost that çar in the summer of 1991!😢He got rear ended by a drunk driver that was driving a late '70s Chrysler Cordoba I think! He demolished the whole rear end of our Caprice!
I bet that thing was sharp, I love red interior on these. Ironically, my parents owned a '76 Cordoba when I was a child too...
bonsoir monsieur je suis a la recherche d'une beretta tres interessé
ils ne sont pas faciles à trouver, je vous souhaite bonne chance !
What size are the tires?
Fronts are 235/60/15, rears are 255/60/15.
That sounds sick for a v6!
You should listen to some of the newer videos of it with the new engine!
